Privacy Policy

karaoki is an educational vocal practice utility built to be minimal by design. There are no accounts and no email sign-ups — we don't collect a profile, and we never sell your data. Most of what you see is stored in your own browser or in your room's session data, which is automatically cleaned up when the room goes idle.

• In your browser (localStorage): a random client identifier, your chosen display name, and your chosen color. This is what lets you rejoin a party without re-typing your name. It never leaves your device except as part of a room's live session (below).
• Room session data (Supabase): the party code, queue, playback state, and participant display names/colors are stored so everyone in the room can see the same thing in real time. Rooms are automatically deleted after about an hour of being empty.
• Audio you process: uploaded files (or tracks pulled for your practice session) are processed into practice stems and word-synced lyrics, stored in our cloud storage so you can replay them. You can request deletion at any time (contact below).
• Basic technical data: our servers keep routine logs (IP address, timestamps, request paths) for security, abuse prevention, and operation. These are retained only as long as needed and are not used to build profiles.

We use a minimal set of essential cookies and browser storage to make the app work. We do not use cookies for advertising today.

If we enable advertising (for example, Google AdSense), third-party advertising partners may place cookies on your device to serve and measure ads, and may use data such as your visits to personalize the ads you see. Google's use of advertising cookies is governed by Google's Advertising Policies; you can opt out of personalized advertising in Google Ads Settings. We will only enable such partners in compliance with applicable law (including consent requirements where they apply).

We use the data above for one purpose: to run the service — keeping rooms in sync, replaying your practice tracks, and keeping the platform safe. We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information to third parties. We only share data with service providers who help operate the platform (hosting, database, processing) under confidentiality obligations, and when required by law.

Room sessions are cleaned up automatically shortly after the last participant leaves. Practice audio is kept so your processed tracks remain playable; you can ask us to delete any of it, and we will honor the request promptly. Send deletion requests to karaokiapp@gmail.com.

karaoki is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Data is processed and stored on secure cloud infrastructure (including Supabase and Google Cloud Platform). If you access the service from outside the hosting region, your data may be processed in the region where the service operates. We apply industry-standard safeguards, but no internet transmission is 100% secure.

You can clear your local browser data at any time (which resets your name/color). For questions about this policy, data access, correction, or deletion, email karaokiapp@gmail.com.

We may update this policy from time to time; material changes will be reflected by the “last updated” date above.
